BIS Skills Centre training facility is the first in Aberdeen to offer the OPITO approved trainee blasting and painting course and the blasting and painting competency assessment course.
The OPITO blasting and painting courses deliver both practical and classroom training and assessment. On completion of the trainee program participants receive an OPITO recognised qualification and gain fundamental knowledge of the blasting and painting profession.
The blasting and painting assessment course is designed to support professional operatives who are already highly competent within the discipline to achieve an industry recognised qualification. Throughout the course, participants are asked to demonstrate their skills, ensuring they are at the standard set out by OPITO guidelines. Competence is gauged both through written and practical assessment and is monitored by an independent, qualified assessor.
Training includes operation and maintenance, knowledge of Methods of Surface Preparation, advantages of Blast Cleaning, types of Blast Cleaning equipment. Assessment in both areas of blasting, painting and spraying.

This comprehensive training course has been designed to give delegates with no experience in the blasting and painting industry and builds basic skills and knowledge required to enter into a career in blasting and painting. 2 Day Competency Assessment Designed for candidates actively involved in blasting and painting, this course will enable already existing tradespeople to obtain a certificate of competency once successfully completing the course.
